Lighting: still images analysis

                                                               

1)The image above is an example of low key lighting, the back light is behind the figure within the frame illuminating one side of the figures face creating a sense of mystery, the back lighting also makes the smoke from the cigarette more defined and significant, putting more emphases on the noir qualities of the image.

2) The image depicts back lighting very well.    
3) The effects create a sense of mystery and noir, along with feelings of loss and hiding.

2) The image uses primarily top lighting making her facial features predominant and contouring her face
3) The lighting creates a significant feeling of fear within the frame, the top light defines the contours of the actresses face giving her a glamorous look 



1) This image uses aspects of both low key and high key forms of lighting, while the setting does appear to be well lit up, an aspect of high key lighting, there is also a contrast of light and shadow on the mans face, this is an aspect of low key lighting.
2) I would say that in the frame there is top lighting to create shadows on the figures face, and there is also key lighting illuminating the setting. 
3) The use of lighting gives the viewer the feeling that the figure is evil and powerful due to the way the shadows are created on the figures face, a long with this, the bright setting gives the shadows on his face even more contrast.

 
1) Low key lighting is primarily used in the image above, you can tell due to the obvious attempt at creating a contrast with the shadows. 
2) The key light is coming from the top (top light). Due to the use of the top light, it creates an effect of glamour in the image. The use of the top light also helps create a much more intense feeling of action.
3) The lighting in this frame gives the viewer the feeling that the movie will be very action oriented. This mainly due to the gun in the image being highlighted by the lighting, it stands out significantly in the frame.

1) In this image low key lighting is used to make a clear contrast between light and shadows. This is done to create a horror effect.
2)this image used back key lighting to create and effect of horror and fear. There are filler lights used but not many.
3) The usage of the top and back lights in the image above has a specific reasons, the top light is used to make the actor in the above frame to seem more glamorous in the shot, but the back light is used to make a shadow on the actors left. This was specifically used to make sure that the viewers understand that this is a scary situation.
