2049 Blade Runner Review

Review 1 : I do believe that the movie offers an amazing amount of eye candy for the audience but not in the typical form of extremely vibrant colours, but in more of a subtle epic form. I also agree with the fact that the movie does not follow the same typical fast action pacing that today's blockbusters follow and follows its own and correct pacing which helps the phenomenal story the movie provides. The two composers  Benjamin Wallfisch  and Hans Zimmer  provide an almost angelic audio experience creating a masterpiece when paired with the stunning visuals. Review   2 This interview is very similar to the first interview, this is mainly due to the fact that the movie was so brilliant, and it is a shame that the movie did not do as well in the box office than it did. This interview again touches on the brilliance of the visual effects and the amazing scenery created within the movie. I do also agree with the second review when it described the movie as a lu...

Moonlight Review

Moonlight follows the life story of a homosexual African-American man named Chiron in a rough drug-ridden Miami. The movie follows the narrative in three separate sections, each showing different stages of Chiron's life and the problems he faced with his sexuality. In the first stage of the movie, Chiron is portrayed to be a quiet boy that speaks very few words, this alone already gives the audience an understanding as to how little affection he had received in his childhood, being ignored by his mother and not knowing his father leaves a toll on him as a child which is again portrayed by how he speaks very little, even when he is shown love and affection by Juan and Teresa, but this lack of a father figure opens way to and important character Juan, a local drug dealer, Juan, and Teresa were the only people that cared for Chiron, this effection goes a long way as Teresa then becomes a parental figure for Chiron as his real mother is constantly on drugs. It is also at this ag...

1) Read this  Mail Online article about the effects of videogames . How does this article link to the hypodermic needle model?  The article published by mail online (a media outlet apart of the daily mail) is heavily linked with the hypodermic needle theory mainly due to the fact that the article adds to the belief that video games are linked to aggression, the way the article has been written would suggest to parents that allowing their child to play such games could lead to them being aggressive when they're older 2) How does coverage of the Talk Talk hacking case (see Daily Mail front page below) link to the hypodermic needle model? Why might someone  criticise  this front page?   The front page of the daily mail article around the talk talk hacking case is a perfect example of the hypodermic needle theory. On the front page of the Daily Mail (a right-wing media outlet) article, there were keywords used that suggest that they want to inject certain ...

1)The image above is an example of low key lighting, the back light is behind the figure within the frame illuminating one side of the figures face creating a sense of mystery, the back lighting also makes the smoke from the cigarette more defined and significant, putting more emphases on the noir qualities of the image. 2) The image depicts back lighting very well.     3) The effects create a sense of mystery and noir, along with feelings of loss and hiding. 1) The still image above uses low key lighting on the figure within the frame 2) The image uses primarily top lighting making her facial features predominant and contouring her face 3) The lighting creates a significant feeling of fear within the frame, the top light defines t...

MIGRAIN: Genre

Genre 1) What example is provided of why visual iconographies are so important? The two examples given are Star Trek and Star Wars are used to demonstrate that although the movies share the same genre (Sci-fi) they use the genres iconography in a different way. Showing that movies within the same genre can use the same cliche's while still being different  2) What examples are provided of the importance of narrative in identifying genre? The examples provided are sit-coms and soap operas. It shows that the visible and audio effects are not the only ways to define a genre, the way the narrative is told can also define the genre. It demonstrates the power the telling of a narrative can have. 3) What is the difference between character representation in action movies and disaster movies? In action movies, the protagonist is often shown as a "lone wolf" to demonstrate that he/she is independent and works alone. However, in disaster movies, the protagonist...
