1) How does the  This Is America  video meet the key conventions of a music video? This is America contains intertextuality, performance, genre characteristics (urban setting) close-ups of the artist (most likely a requirement of the record label.) 2) What comment is the video making on American culture, racism and gun violence? 1) What was the budget for  Billie Jean ? How did this compare with later Michael Jackson videos? The budget for Billie jean was $50,000, this is minuscule in comparison to his other music videos that released after; Beat it had a budget of $300,000 and Thriller was budgeted at $2 million 2) Why was the video rejected by MTV?
